Clover Virtual Training Labs (VTL) integrates into your LMS as an External Learning Tool. As an LTI-compliant tool provider, Clover is compatible with all LMS platforms that support LTI integration.

Learning Tools Interoperability® (LTI®) enables your Learning Management System (LMS) to connect seamlessly and securely with external tools like Clover. This standards-based integration allows your LMS to transmit essential information to Clover, including the user’s role (instructor or student) and the course context from which the tool is launched.

Importantly, Clover relies on LTI 1.3 (LTI Advantage) to deliver the most secure and feature-rich integration. This enables students and instructors to launch Clover directly from within the LMS without requiring additional usernames or passwords — ensuring seamless, authenticated access every time.

Clover also supports automatic user account creation at launch, combining registration and single sign-on (SSO) into a single, streamlined workflow — reducing administrative tasks and providing a smooth user experience.

To integrate Clover with your LMS, two key registrations are required:

Follow these steps to configure Clover as an external tool in your LMS:

If you’re using one of the following LMS platforms, we provide detailed tutorials to guide you through Clover LTI integration:

Configuration Steps

Configure Clover as an external learning tool within your LMS. This enables the LMS to connect to Clover and pass essential user and course information during launch.

Set up the LMS as a trusted platform within Clover. This allows Clover to recognize and securely accept requests coming from your LMS.

Step 1: Registering the Tool (Clover) in the LMS

When adding Clover as an external LTI tool in your LMS, you can choose the context level at which the integration operates: Per Course or Per Unit (also known as section, module, or topic, depending on the LMS). This selection defines how virtual classrooms are mapped inside Clover.
🧭 Option 1: Course-Level Integration
What it does:
Injects the course name into Clover and links the entire course to one virtual classroom.
Use case:
Ideal when the same virtual lab environment is used throughout the course.
Result in Clover:
A single virtual classroom associated with the course.
🧭 Option 2: Unit-Level Integration (Section / Module)
What it does:
Injects the unit (or module) name into Clover and creates a separate virtual classroom per unit.
Use case:
Perfect for courses that need distinct lab environments per topic, such as:
– Different host pools per unit
– Custom applications or setups per subject area
Result in Clover:
Multiple virtual classrooms within the same course — one for each unit.
