To successfully provide your users (teachers, trainers, students, etc.) with desktops and applications through Clover, you need the following:

  1. Clover License: Appropriate licenses acquired during the purchase of Clover from the Azure Marketplace.
  2. Azure Account: An active Azure subscription.
  3. AVD Access License: One of the following per-user licenses to access Azure Virtual Desktop:
    • Microsoft 365 E3/E5
    • Microsoft 365 A3/A5/Student Use Benefits
    • Microsoft 365 F3
    • Microsoft 365 Business Premium
    • Windows 11 & Windows 10 Enterprise E3/E5
    • Windows 11 & Windows 10 Education A3/A5

  4. Network Connectivity: Reliable internet connection to access the virtual desktops and applications.

Clover is offered as a transactable Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) solution through the Microsoft marketplace. Our billing model is per user, per month, making it easy to scale with your organization’s needs. As we co-sell with Microsoft, you can conveniently purchase Clover through your existing Microsoft channels.

My organization is interested in Clover but doesn't have an Azure account. What do we need to do?

To use Clover, you’ll first need to acquire an Azure account with an active subscription to deploy Azure Virtual Desktop. If you don’t have one already, you can create an account for free. If you need assistance with this process, please don’t hesitate to contact us. As a certified Microsoft Cloud Solution Provider (CSP), we can guide you through obtaining an Azure subscription tailored to your needs.

I already have a valid Azure account. Do I need any additional Microsoft licenses?

Yes, to access Windows 11 and Windows 10 through Azure Virtual Desktop, you’ll need one of the following per-user licenses:

  • Microsoft 365 E3/E5
  • Microsoft 365 A3/A5/Student Use Benefits
  • Microsoft 365 F3
  • Microsoft 365 Business Premium
  • Windows 11 & Windows 10 Enterprise E3/E5
  • Windows 11 & Windows 10 Education A3/A5
  • Windows 11 & Windows 10 VDA per user

You’ll need to purchase these licenses either directly from Microsoft or through an authorized Microsoft partner. As a certified Microsoft CSP, we’d be happy to assist you in acquiring the appropriate licenses for your organization. It’s important to note that:

  • These licenses allow you to join devices to Azure AD and use them as AVD clients.
  • Windows 10/11 Pro licenses alone are not sufficient for joining devices to AVD.
  • For organizations using Windows 10/11 Pro devices, you’ll need to purchase one of the above licenses to be compliant.
  • If you’re using thin clients or non-Windows devices to access AVD, you still need one of these licenses per user for compliance reasons.

  1. Microsoft 365 A3 or A5:
    • Designed for educational institutions

    • A5 adds advanced security and analytics
  2. Microsoft 365 Business Premium:
    • Ideal for small to medium-sized businesses (up to 300 users)

You will receive a notification about exceeding the number of users, and new users will not be able to log in.
